Ada Expert Robert A. Duff Joins

NEW YORK, NY [Jan. 24, 2006]--ARA member AdaCore, an international
developer of Ada tools and compilers, has announced the appointment of Ada
expert Robert A. Duff to the company's core technical team. Mr. Duff will be
responsible for designing and implementing enhancements to the GNAT Pro Ada
Development Environment.
Mr. Duff brings to AdaCore more than twenty-four years of technical expertise
that includes the design of software system architecture, programming languages,
compilers, real-time systems, parallel and distributed systems, and software
development tools. Mr. Duff was a key member of the language design team
for the 1995 revision of the Ada programming language, Ada95, which included
support for object-oriented programming, data-oriented synchronization, programming-in-the-large,
and real-time systems. He also authored major portions of the Ada95 International
Standard. Mr. Duff has served as co-chair for the Ada Rapporteur Group, which
is responsible for evaluating comments concerning the ISO standard for Ada.
Bob Duff is well respected by the Ada community both as an authority and dedicated
proponent of the Ada programming language, so he and AdaCore are an ideal match," said
Robert Dewar, president of AdaCore. "Having worked closely with Bob on
the Ada 95 revision, we know he will be an asset to us as we continue to improve
and streamline our Ada development solutions."
Most recently, Mr. Duff served as Vice President of Engineering for SofCheck,
Inc., where he was responsible for designing and implementing a static analysis
tool to detect errors in Ada and Java programs. He has also served as Chief
Scientist, Language Tools, at Intermetrics, Inc.; President and Consultant
for Oak Tree Software, Inc.; Director of Engineering for Software Leverage,
Inc.; and as a system software designer for AAI Corporation. Robert Duff
holds a B.S. in applied mathematics from Carnegie-Mellon University.
