NEW YORK, NY [Jan. 24, 2006]--ARA member AdaCore, an international developer of Ada tools and compilers, has announced the appointment of Ada expert Robert A. Duff to the company's core technical team. Mr. Duff will be responsible for designing and implementing enhancements to the GNAT Pro Ada Development Environment.
Mr. Duff brings to AdaCore more than twenty-four years of technical expertise that includes the design of software system architecture, programming languages, compilers, real-time systems, parallel and distributed systems, and software development tools. Mr. Duff was a key member of the language design team for the 1995 revision of the Ada programming language, Ada95, which included support for object-oriented programming, data-oriented synchronization, programming-in-the-large, and real-time systems. He also authored major portions of the Ada95 International Standard. Mr. Duff has served as co-chair for the Ada Rapporteur Group, which is responsible for evaluating comments concerning the ISO standard for Ada.

"Having worked closely with Bob on the Ada 95 revision, we know he will be an asset to us as we continue to improve and streamline our Ada development solutions."
Most recently, Mr. Duff served as Vice President of Engineering for SofCheck, Inc., where he was responsible for designing and implementing a static analysis tool to detect errors in Ada and Java programs. He has also served as Chief Scientist, Language Tools, at Intermetrics, Inc.; President and Consultant for Oak Tree Software, Inc.; Director of Engineering for Software Leverage, Inc.; and as a system software designer for AAI Corporation. Robert Duff holds a B.S. in applied mathematics from Carnegie-Mellon University.
